Privacy Policy

Pillplexity is designed with a privacy-first approach to help users understand prescription medications through clear, structured information. The app does not require an account for general use — browsing, scanning, and tracking all work anonymously. An account is required only when you choose to subscribe; see “Account and Subscription Data” below.

Pillplexity does not collect personal identifiers from your prescription labels. This includes patient names, prescription numbers, prescriber details, pharmacy information, location data, or any other identifiers that may appear on a label — these are removed and never stored. The limited account information collected if you subscribe is described in “Account and Subscription Data” below.

When you choose to subscribe — or sign in from the Profile tab — you sign in with Apple. We collect the Apple user identifier and the email address Apple provides (which may be a private Apple relay address) to create and manage your account and subscription and to provide support, including granting complimentary access. We use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service, as a processor; your Apple identifier, email, and purchase history are processed by RevenueCat for that purpose. This account information is used only for subscription and support — it is never linked to your medication or supplement list, which stays on your device.

You can delete your account at any time in the app: open the Profile tab and choose “delete account.” Deletion permanently removes the account information we hold — your Apple user identifier and email — including the copy processed by RevenueCat. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription; subscriptions are billed by Apple and can be canceled in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Your medication list is stored only on your device, so it is not affected by account deletion and can be cleared separately in the app.

When a prescription label is scanned, the app extracts medication-related content to identify the drug name. Before any information is processed further, all personal identifiers are automatically removed. Only the medication name is used to retrieve relevant educational information from publicly available FDA drug databases.

To produce clear, plain-language summaries, the medication name and FDA-derived label content are sent to a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude) for rewriting. Only generic drug information is transmitted; no patient identifiers, label images, or any data linking the request to a user are sent. The AI service does not retain this data for training under Anthropic's API terms.

At no point is prescription data associated with a user or stored in a way that can identify an individual.

Pillplexity does not use cloud storage or remote databases for your medication data. Any medications you choose to save are stored locally on your device only, are never uploaded to our servers, and are not linked to your account or identity. This data remains fully under your control and can be deleted at any time.

If you use the Labs feature, any lab values you add — by photographing a report, importing a PDF, or typing them in — are processed entirely on your device and stored only on your device. Lab reports are read on-device using Apple's on-device text recognition; the app extracts only the lab values, and any patient name, date of birth, or record number on the report is discarded and never stored. Your lab values are never uploaded to our servers, never shared with any third party, never used for advertising or analytics, and never linked to your account. When you choose to share a lab summary, it is created on your device and sent only to the recipient you pick. Reference ranges shown are the ranges printed on your own report; the app does not supply medical ranges, does not diagnose, and does not recommend treatment.

If you choose to use the Vitals feature, Pillplexity asks for your permission to read a limited set of wellness metrics from Apple Health — such as heart rate, steps, sleep, and similar measurements — so it can display your own timeline inside the app. This data is read on your device and displayed to you only. If you use the Patterns view, the app also computes — entirely on your device — simple averages of those metrics on days you logged a medication or supplement versus days you did not. These summaries stay on your device and are not a measure of any product's effect. Your Health data is never uploaded to our servers, never shared with any third party, never used for advertising or analytics, and never linked to your account information. Pillplexity only reads from Apple Health; it never writes to it. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Medication information provided in Pillplexity is derived from publicly available FDA drug databases (openFDA and RxNorm) and other reputable public health resources. The information is presented for educational and informational purposes only.

Pillplexity does not sell or rent your data, does not use it for advertising, and uses no third-party analytics, tracking, or profiling. The only third party that receives account data is RevenueCat, which we use as a processor to manage subscriptions; it processes your Apple user identifier, email, and purchase history solely for that purpose, as described in “Account and Subscription Data.” Generic drug names sent for plain-language rewriting (see “How Information Is Processed”) are not linked to your identity.

The app is built to minimize data exposure by design. Sensitive prescription information is removed immediately after extraction, and only non-identifiable medication data is used for lookup purposes. Your medication list is stored only on your device; the account credentials used for subscriptions (your Apple user identifier and email) are stored securely and kept separate from your medication data.

Pillplexity is intended for users 17 years of age or older, consistent with the App Store age rating. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The limited account information described above is collected only from users who choose to subscribe. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted at pillplexity.app/privacy with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Pillplexity after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
